Civil War Veteran Gone
Levi Starbuck of Locust St. Dies on Friday Evening
Levi Starbuck, an old time resident of Santa Cruz, and a veteran of the civil war, died at this residence 48 Locust St. in this city on Friday evening. Mr. Starbuck had a severe attack of the grip lately and this, complicated with heart trouble was the cause of this death. He ate a hearty supper on Thursday night and was feeling much better and his death was entirely unexpected.
Mr. Starbuck formerly lived in East Santa Cruz where he is well known. He was a member of Wallace Reynolds, G.A.R. having been a volunteer in Company D, First Rhode Island infantry. He was a grandson of Capt.. Starbuck of Nantucket, RI who was a famous ship owner and sea captain before the Civil War. Mr. Starbuck's age was 77. He leaves a widow and one daughter, who live in this city.
The funeral will be held , as will be seen in another column on Sunday afternoon and will be private with the exception of the old soldiers who will conduct the service. Rev. C.O. Tillotson will deliver the funeral oration.

Starbuck in Santa Cruz April 29, Levi Starbuck, a native of Nantucket Mass. aged 76 days place from his late residence, 48 locust street at 2:30 P.M. Sunday. Interment private.

The funeral of the late Levi Starbuck was held in the Odd Fellows cemetery on Sunday by the Grand Army Post of which he was a member. Rev. C.O. Tillotson conducted the services.
