The Late Dr. Simons

On Monday afternoon the funeral of the late Dr. O.H. Simons took place from Calvary Episcopal Church. The deceased was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and took special courses in Paris and Vienna. During the war he served with the Sixth Ohio cavalry, ranking as major. For some years he practiced his profession in Jamestown, N.Y. and then moved to Leadville. In 1889 he was appointed U.S. Consul at Hong Kong serving until 1894. After engaging in mining in Shasta Siskiyou and Trinity counties, he came to Santa Cruz Co. about ten years ago, purchasing Springs property. He leaves a son who is now at school in New York.
