DIED: REYNOLDS - In Santa Cruz December 9, 1934 James Andrew Reynolds aged 94 years, native of Wisconsin.

James A. Reynolds Dies At Age of 94

James Andrew Reynolds, aged ninety four years and three months died Sunday morning at a local hospital, here he has been a patient since last Tuesday. He has been a resident of Capitola for the past 34 years and identified with its early history. He was born in Wisconsin, September 10, 1840. He was a veteran of the Civil War. He crossed the plains with relatives. In 1866 he married Anezette Dickerson who also came across the plains in 1854. Mrs. Reynolds died July 1st 1927 at the age of 81 years.

The family came to Capitola from Stockton and for several years lived in the large building on the brow of the hill now known as New England Villa and is owned and operated by Mrs. Moline Harvey. The Reynolds family later moved to the property located on the corner of Railroad and Escalon avenue, and their home for many years was the meccas of many people who boarded with them during the summer season. Mrs. Reynolds was a famous cook and their hospitable home was a very popular place in Capitola.

The body was shipped to Stockton where funeral services will be held and will rest beside that of his wife.

Mrs. Blanche Shearborn and her three daughters, Alice, Frances and DeDe, have occupied the family home with the father for a number of years. Other children who survive are Arthur Reynolds of Stockton, Mrs. W.H. Horner of Stockton, Fred Reynolds of Sacramento, Roy Reynolds of Oakland, Clifford Reynolds of Berkeley and Harry Reynolds in Bremerton Washington. There are 7 grandchildren and one great grand child living.
