One More Old Soldier Gone to Rest

Ed Pavitt was born at Matchen Green, England Feb 8th 1830. He came to America in 1851, was married to Miss Margaret Waring in 1857 and made their home for many years at Markessan, Wisconsin. Five daughters were born to them, four of them still living, Mrs. Lice Cole of Minneapolis, Ella Newnham, of Twin Lakes, Santa Cruz Co; Mrs. Adelia Vogel, of El Monte, Calif., and Jennie E. Hale, of San Jose, Calif, where he passed away Sept. 1, 1921 being in his 92nd birth year. His wife died Nov. 5, 1916. Mr.. Pavitt served his country during the Civil War as a volunteer in the 32nd Reg.. Wisconsin Volunteers, serving about 3 years' time. He was wounded in the right hand.
