DIED: NORRIS - In Santa Cruz May 12, Henry C. Norris, aged 83 years 11 days, native of New Hampshire.

Henry C. Norris Dies Suddenly at Local Hotel

Henry C. Norris, who came from Los Angeles about a week ago to visit his son, Henry C. Norris Jr., died suddenly last night at Casa del Rey, where the son has been a house guest for some time.

Mr. Norris was 83 years of age and was born in Center Sandwich New Hampshire, and was a veteran of the Civil war, having been with the Second Ohio Infantry. He was during the war with the disbursing department of the government and while holding that post distributed $50,000,000 for the army of the Cumberland. He was with General George H. Thomas at Chickamauga.

He first came to California in 1875 and settled at Stockton and engaged in the manufacturing business, manufacturing the original Fresno scraper. He returned in 1880 to Chicago, called by the illness of his father in law, John A. Packard, the father of Frazer's axle grease.

He returned to California in 1893 and has since resided in this state, Los Angeles being his home at the time of death.

His wife preceded him in death and the son is the only surviving member of the family. The body is at Chase's undertaking parlors.
