Old Veteran Aged 86 Dead
Geo. Henry Metz, a native of Germany and 86 years old died yesterday morning at the home of this daughter, Mrs. R. York on 17th Av. near Del Mar.
Death came peacefully and rather suddenly. Wednesday he was in good health, but yesterday morning on going to his room his daughter found him his bed, breathing heavily and soon he died.
Mr. Metz was a veteran of the Civil war, having defended his adopted country like a true patriot. He was a member of Wallace-Reynolds G.A.R.. The deceased had lived in California 27 years.

Funeral of an Old Soldier
The funeral of George H. Metz conducted by the Wallace-Reynolds Post was held yesterday from the undertaking parlors of C.C. Chase, was largely attended by members of the G.A.R., W.R.C., friends and relatives. The flora offerings were many and beautiful consisting of lilies, purple and white lilacs, ferns and large wreaths representing the tri colors of the national emblem. The hymns were rendered by Mrs. George Gridly, and Mrs. M.A. Jones. The pall bearers were Commander H.A. Wagner, Comrades J.F. Welley, F. Bibbins, R.E. McAdams, W.H. Peck and Frank Hills.
