Residence Jefferson ME; 21 years old. Enlisted on 9/9/1864 as a Private. On 9/9/1864 he mustered into ME 7th Light Artillery. He was Mustered Out on 6/21/1865.

The 7th Battery of Light Artillery was organized in Augusta Maine and mustered in December 30, 1863 and left the state for Washington DC on February 1 1864. It participated in the battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania and Col Harbor before Lorenzo Jones joined it at Petersburg in September 1864. He was probably with the unit during the siege of Petersburg in the vicinity of Ft. Sedgwick and participated in the pursuit of Lee's army to Appomattox. April 4-9 1865. They moved from Virginia to Washington DC where they participated in the Grand Review before returning to Augusta Maine. The unit was mustered out of service on June 21, 1865. During the war the battery lost 13 enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 27 by disease for a total of 40.
