Letter From Laurel

Grim visaged death is no respecter of localities and during the last week the dark angel has paid our neighborhood a visit. Last Saturday William E Emery was stricken down with death. The deceased was 56 years old and a native of Maine. Mr. Emery had been a resident of Laurel for twenty years and had made for himself and his family many staunch friends. He had served the community in a public capacity, being chosen at one time as one of the Laurel schools trustees. There survives him besides his widow, five grown children and four younger ones, all of whom have the heart felt sympathy of the community in this their hour of trial, which has taken from them a true husband and loving father. The remains were shipped on Monday to San Francisco where they were interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
