Plea To Drop Charges Against Creek Campers
Supervisor Marilyn Liddicoat, urged colleagues to recommend that the district attorney ask that charges against the Scott Creek campers trespassing at the county center are dropped, given that they had the cause of "where they would sleep that night." She mentions that while the trespassing of private property is not condoned, student protestors at UCSC were supported by the supervisors after arrests at sit-in protest about the University's involvement in South Africa. Members of the board have also been served legal papers presented by representatives of the Scott Creek campers who are pressing suit against the county for the arrests.
