Residents are cleaning up storm damage and returning to their homes in evacuated areas including Eureka Canyon and Hubbard Gulch. Eureka Canyon saw heavy damage with three houses destroyed by mud and trees, and one home burned when firefighters could not access the site. The San Lorenzo Valley saw significant attention during the week-long storm, particularly around the Boulder Brook area, where one woman remains missing after a slide. On the coast, the Santa Cruz Harbor is recommending boaters do not leave the harbor because of hazards that could make a return treacherous. A combination of heavy swell, low tides, sandbars that will take 5-10 days to dredge, and numerous debris including logs, pilings, stumps, and furniture, pose a risk to boats. Permits are being issued for chainsaw use on beaches for driftwood removal.
