Experimental tandem-wing aircraft

Experimental tandem-wing aircraft made by aviation pioneer, John Joseph Montgomery (1858-1911). The location is the Leonard Ranch on the bluffs of what is now the Seascape area. Montgomery first tested model airplanes and later a 24-foot glider. Many test flights took off from the railroad trestle at Manresa Beach. The individuals are unidentified. This airplane may be the one tested in July, 1904.
