Water main to serve existing areas only
This article describes an agreement between the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors and Watsonville officials to construct a water main to provide water for fire protection and residential use in the Pajaro Dunes neighborhood. Under the agreement, some of the water piped from the city can be used by residents in the Sunset Beach Mutual Water Co. service area to mitigate concerns of local saltwater seepage into local wells. The article states this agreement will not support residential development on Pajaro Valley farmlands, as feared by local environmentalists.
