Children playing in the play yard behind Bay View Elementary School. The school was constructed in 1869 at the corner of Lime Kiln Road (present-day Bay Avenue?) and Coast Road (present-day Mission Street?). The building was expected to cost $3,500.

The Mission Hill Grammar School, with a street car climbing Mission Hill. The school was designed in the Italianate style by Levi Goodrich in 1875. Until 1894, the third floor housed the high school. Because of damage from the 1906 earthquake, theā€¦

Mission Hill Grammar School. The 1875 building originally had three floors and a tower. The 1906 earthquake damaged the third floor, necessitating its removal. The building was demolished in 1930.
