This article describes the Kenneth Gleason home, formerly the Charles Perkins home in Boulder Creek, and artist Mrs. Gleason's family connections to the area. The 100-year old structure was built as a 'wood-chopper's place' and had a simple design and single-wall construction. More recently, after several updates, the home was featured by Sunset Magazine. Mrs. Gleason grew up in the house next door, where her 89-year old father now lives. Gleason's family settled in Boulder Creek in the 19th century, and her brother, George 'Hoot' Cress is an incoming San Lorenzo Valley supervisor for Santa Cruz County. The home features several improvements including a modernized kitchen and garden designed by local architect Roy Rydell. There are numerous photos of the seamless integration of old and new design elements.
