Mark H. Thompson (1968/08/24)

The only information available regarding the life and death of Mark Henry Thompson is a brief newspaper notice, an inscription on a headstone in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno and a partial death certificate.

Mark Thompson was born on May 4, 1947 in Santa Clara County, California to Mr. and Mrs. Henry J Thompson. His father, a former marine, died in September 1957 and was buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel of August 25, 1968 noted,
“SC Serviceman Dies in Crash
A soldier identified as Mark Henry Thompson of Santa Cruz was one of two GI's reported killed yesterday in a two- car collision in El Paso Texas.
Thompson and Jimmie L. King of Rochester N.Y. were killed in the crash Associated Press reported. They were attached to the same medical company at White Sands, New Mexico.
No information on age or address was available at press time.”

An Internet partial death certificate for Thompson indicated that he was married; however, additional information regarding his spouse has not been found.

Mark Thompson's headstone denoted that he was a corporal in the US Army. He was buried next to his father at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
