Aptos Village
Aptos was originally a "rancheria" (Spanish term for an Indian settlement), and is now an unincorporated village, of indefinite area, centered around the present-day junction of Soquel Drive and Trout Gulch Road. "Aptos" is said to be an Indian name meaning "meeting of the two streams or waters," i.e., the Valencia and Aptos Creeks.
