William L. Comstock (1944/03/03)

Listed in the National Archives Records Administration names of Santa Cruz County war casualties is that of William Leo Comstock.

Comstock was born on June 30, 1907, in Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Comstock. No information is available as to his siblings, education or the community in which he spent his youth.

Information relating to his naval career is also missing. William Comstock was a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class, US Naval Reserve. No additional information regarding his naval service has surfaced. The date and length of his residence in Santa Cruz County have also not been established. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Allen Comstock resided in Santa Cruz at the time of their son's death on March 3, 1944, and the county was used as the address of his next of kin.

Comstock's remains were recovered and returned to the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno where they were interred in 1948.
