Originally purchased by the Ponzi brothers to harvest the remaining timber in the mountains which the government wanted for railroad ties. They lived and worked on the property until 1921 which had a magnificent view of the Bay. They sold the property to the Cornwallis from San Francisco who built a mansion on the property. In the mid 60s they sold it to the Hitchcock family. Alfred Hitchcock would come home every week-end by taking a plan to the Scotts Valley airport.
