A Modern Winery That's Steeped in Tradition

The BArgetto family was from the Piedmont section of Italy and originally focused on truck farming. John BArgetto was the first to return to the family’s roots by making wine after Prohibition ended. The used some of the original farm area in Soquel to grow grapes originally but now buy all their grapes from Paso Robles. They started with production of jug wines to sell to restaurants but now have two lines of wine, one jug wines and one premium wines. The wine is made in some of the original oak barrels especially the red wines and Chardonnay. Larry and Ralph BArgetto, John’s son’s, now run the business.
