History of public transit in Santa Cruz County
The excerpt covers the beginning of public transit in the form of streetcars which covered several different main routes through the area. As was typical the Power and Light Company took over the street car system until it was replaced by buses in the 1920s. Ridership slowly decreased with the advent of cars and city planners now need to take in the need of the community to determine successful routes to keep.
