The Germans liked their beer
This article is about Carl Beck’s place called the Cottage Salloon near Beach Street which had a swinging door in the front and a normal door in the back for those who imbibed int the sitting room. The photos show The Cottage being moved closer to town by a team of houses. While Santa Cruz was known for its temperance movements there were many wineries, distilleries and beer gardens as small family operations.
