Life story of Josephine Clifford McCrackin who was a famous author of books and contributor to the Sentinel and the Overland. She was an avid supporter of wildlife causes and was instrumental in campaigning for the creation of Big Basin State Park. She and her second husband had a fruit farm in the mountains near the summit until it was destroyed in a wildfire. She lived in Santa Cruz for the rest of her life and had many admirers including Bret Harte, the actress Mary Pickford and other politicians involved in conservation efforts.
