The company has been in the timber industry since 1923 and this photo was taken at the Pescadero Creek Mill near Big Basin. It is a Douglas fir. The company will retain its retail stores but the difficulty in finding fresh supplies to harvest and the expense of new sawmill supplies made the closure necessary.
