Phil Hartman was the son of Daniel Hartman of the pioneer Hartman family. The Hartman’s moved to Boulder Creek in the 1870s and established a business and residence in the town of Lorenzo. That business was lost in the fire that destroyed Lorenzo but the Hartman family continued to make a contribution to the town of Boulder Creek. After living through several fires Phill got together with other town residents such as the Locatelli’s and Fred Moody and created the Boulder Creek Fire Deparment. Phily Hartman was the Fire Chief for 25 years.
