Mt Hermon Mill on Bear Creek
Four Harmon brothers came to California from Maine and settled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. They started a mill on Bear Creek Road and made improvements to Bear Creek Rd but leveling it and taking it out to Lexington. This created another access to Boulder Creek and also to San Jose. For a time they wanted to make it a toll road but that proved too controversial for the other lumberman. They tore out the toll gates and finally the County bought it for a public road.
