'Pupping' on the bay

Lists behavioral characteristics of harbor seals in and out of water, gives specific details on size of harbor seal colonies, the timing of birthing, nursing and weening, mating behavior, how mothers raise their pups, and contrasts some characteristics to those of elephant seals. Gives examples of behaviors of seal pups that might be observed, including playing and being left alone on beaches. Advises on how to dispose trash responsibly and keep a distance away from pups to ensure pup safety and well-being. Describes when, where and how mother grey whales raise their calves, including a northern migration which can be witnessed in the spring. Provides examples of places and services where seals and whales can be watched.
