Along the History Trail

The population of the area in 1870 was about 100. Forty five families lived there with three quarters of the residences without children. The settlement was driven by the 160 acres of free land given out by the government as incentive to live there. The article notes the little school house, meeting hall and a few houses in a central area that was north of town today. All the reset of the settlers are listed along with their creek location in the article.
