History of Boulder Creek

This installment in a series on Boulder Creek History discusses the creation of Bear Creek Toll toad to connect with a road to San Jose. It also notes the series of newspapers locally published with the Mountain Echo started by C.C. Rodger’s in 1896. His brother W.S. Rodger’s joined him later and ran the newspaper after C.C. Rodger’s died. The article talks about early use of electric power and the major fires that burned down much of Boulder Creek and also Lorenzo. The hotel was re-built in Lorenzo but the ton as never the same after the fire. In 1902, Boulder Creek decided to incorporate as a village which lasted a few years until it was voted down.
