A town can change
The writer reviews the changing landscape in the 1800s when the residents were once clustered north of the current town and several businesses established. When the railroad was connected to what was then called Boulder the area soon was renamed Boulder Creek and the center of town was relocated South. As business burned down or were demolished, the replacements were built closer to the railroad. A lot of the new building was done with funds from J. Middleton who built a new hotel called The Commercial, new businesses, and a grand estate on Bear Creek Road.
