When Boulder Creek Went Dry

Photo shows an old wine press and the article notes the substantial win industry in the area before Prohibition. A story is also told of a local creek that ran red after Prohitionist broke open the caskets of wine and dumped them in the stream. Another memory of George Pilger’s revolves around how the engineer of the train from BOulder Creek to Felton would watch for men in uniform to board his train after arriving from Oakland and he would play the train whistle non stop after passing Ben Lomond all the way to Boulder Creek to let the towns people know.
