It's "all aboard" for Roaring Camp dream

Article details the history of the roaring Camp area including Isaac Graham’s connections with a sawmill across the street at Mt Hermon and a whiskey distillery at Roaring Camp which the Mexicans in the area gave the name for its reputation. Also noted is the history of early attempts to sell the timber off the property until a man named Welch bough the property to preserve the redwoods for visitors today. The railroad companies built rail lines down to Santa Cruz and up to Boulder and the summit to bring travelers to San Lorenzo Valley however most were gone by 1940. Normal Clark , an avid railroad enthusiast, leased the property and began building a railroad town with replicas for buildings and barbecued food for gatherings. The rails were brought from England and the locomotives from several places in the country. International travelers can have tours in their own languages altho tourism lately is based on more local tourism and group functions.
