Reminiscences of the Early Years of the Little Church
The author talks about church life with the parties for the whole town at Christmas and in the Spring. Travel was difficult with mud in the winter and dust in the Spring on the San Lorenzo Road but her father was determined to keep all 6 Valley churches open. Helen talks of Felton in the early days as a rollicking town of lumber and lime kiln workers who partied Saturday nights. She and her siblings traveled to the school in Boulder by train and her father would pick them up from the train depot every day after dark. The author writes this history on the eve of the little white church entering a new chapter as the community library with its place in the town of Felton as a historical landmark assured.
