Death of Billy Ware
Death of Billy Ware from Ireland who rode with Isaac Graham earlier as a hunter and trapper and then settled for a time in the San Juan and Soledad area running a distillery with left over grains from the Missions. He returned to Santa Cruz and had businesses in lumber and a tannery near the Fremont Tree. He fought in the war with Mexico in Grahams group and was also imprisoned when they were captured. When he was released he returned to Santa Cruz to live out his life. He died FEb 10th, 1869.
