Pearl Silvey was born in the Clements house near the post office. She was raised in the white Presbyterian church. She knew many artists and was an artist herself. Several artists are mentioned in the interview such as DeJoiner in Ben Lomond and Pennemen. Artists from all over the world cam to visit DeJoiner. Pearl’s mother was very handy with a needle and thread and made all of the clothes in the family and her father helped build Highway 9.
