Valley of the Redwoods in Pioneer days of Past...
Author recounts the establishment of Felton and the growing lumber industry along with roads and railroads to support the movement of freight. Investors built rail systems to Santa Cruz to transport the lumber and a flume to get the wood down the San Lorenzo Valley. Once the railroad put it a rail to Boulder Creek lumber operations shifted further up the hill. Several disastrous fires which burned large parts of the town contributed to a new and different Felton centered on residential areas and tourism.
