Felton Fire
The first article is a fire that started in the Steen residence. some of the family had been in Santa Cruz celebrating a Jewish holiday but other children were asleep in the house and were rescued by townspeople. the entire block of buildings burned down including the store, the post office, a butcher store and others. Saved merchandise and the post office halved been over across the street to the Grand Central Hotel temporarily. The second article is about a large fire that consumed a stable and several horses, the Cunningham House, the Central Hotel and the Cunningham store lost considerable property. The fire is believed to have started in the stable.
