The hike is half the fun

Driven by the need for mortar for San Francisco, San Lorenzo and in particular Felton, was a center for lime production in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Most of the lime production left around 1925 as it could be produced cheaper in other locations. However, when ou visit fall Creek park you can still see the remnants of the lime kilns and equipment . Up to 8,000 barrels a month were extract at the height of the operations there.
