Fred Quisdorf worked on his family farm before coming to Santa Cruz to learn how to be a blacksmith. He also spent time in Alaska working the canneries. He eventually owned his own blacksmith shop and eventually became an auto mechanic in his converted auto service station. He was a warden in big Trees county Park and was a pitcher on the Felton Woodpecker baseball team.
