Alice Wilder at Historic preservation gathering
When Alice Wilder first came to San Lorenzo Valley the family stayed at Hallcrest in Felton then with the Pierce house. Her current house is two buildings from the days of the mill merged together. All of the property sold by Pierce to new residents had a clause that liquor could not be sold on the property or it would revert back to the Lumber Company. The Post Office said there were too many “mills” and “Pacifics” already so they requested to change the town name to something else. Alice also talks about the Anderson’s from England and their estate.
