Ben Lomond's "Supervisor" Continues Her Role as Valley Ombudsman

Overview of the life of Alice Wilder who continues at the age of 90 to assist residents in working through the County to get their needs met. She has a long history of serving on Boards and community groups in leadership positions. Her first experience with this activity was when the local school board in Ben Lomond had a vacant position and she filled it. She has been instrumental in establishing the local planning department in Santa Cruz and a County health Department with dedicated staff. She and her family first moved to Ben Lomond as a summer home but she moved there permanently in the 1930 and has been a fixture in her red hat ever since. She raised four children on her own when her husband died early and she has instilled in them the same civic responsibility that her father did when she was there age.
