Hiram Scott- Humanitarian

Story reform history of Hiram Scotts who took in a mother and three children who had lost their father and helped support them through school. One of the children became a chief of his people and another grew up to be a well respected female author discussing Indegenous People’s treatment in the United States. Hiram Scott’s charity is contrasted to other business men in the 1850s who were much less sympathetic to those in the community who needed help. Hiram Scott made much of his money during the Gold Rush and was abl to buy a large tract of land that was part of Rancho San Agustin.
