Riverwood Manor's History Revealed
Article describes the history of the house from its early days as Phillipshurst owned by the Phillips family, to its time as Riverwood where it was extensively remodeled by the Dr. Muscrove and his wife Florence. Dr. Musgrove was a famous physician and Mrs. Musgrove was a wealthy heiress who enjoyed remodeling old homes. The house eventually was sold to Dr. Smith who opened a school for handicapped children there and renamed the house as the Blake Hammond House. When Dr. smith died the school was closed and his family lived on the property until it was sold to the Wilder and Walker families. They split the property and developed their parcels separately. the Wilders own the mansion and recently were successful in getting it added to the Historic Houses registry to protect it.
