History of the Park House

Park House was north of town between Marshall Creek and Brown Gables Road. It had a main house with living room, dining room and guests rooms upstairs and downstairs. It also had cabins, some with kitchens. One four bedroom cabin was always rented to one family for the summer. Thomas Peterson originally built the hotel and leased it from 1897 to 1907. It was then bought by Mr. Samuel Bruce from Oakland for the summers and he rented out the cabins to people who had stayed there before.
