The Recreation District was created in 1948 to better supervise and raise funds for improvement of the community assets such as the park, the old fire house, and the library. The fire Commissioners were overseeing the effort but did not have the funds to be able to make improvements. With the Recreational district plans are underway to improve the park, create an outdoor stage, and utilize the Ben Lomond school and equipment as the San Lorenzo School district is created. The trustees of the District have been able to attract donors to contribute land and resources towards improving facilities including the creation of a public library.
