Book on Addison Newell by Faye Ellis

The paper covers Addison's birth in Maine, his five years in the gold fields with his brother and eventual settlement in Ben Lomond. He ran the Newell Creek Lumber Company and also farmed the land. He became a Justice of the Peace in later years and he lived to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary with his wife Sarah. They had five children who were leaders in the community and their descendents as well. Two of Addison's sons served in the military during the Civil War. He had extensive land holdings at his death of which he bequethed to family members. His burial plot is described as well as his funeral aboard a train. Newell Creek, Newell Dam, and Newell Reservoir were named after Addison until the reservoir was renamed Loch Lomond later. Faye Ellis is a local historian who became interested in the Newell family after working with the H.E.L.P organization who was restoring Evergreen Cemetery where he is buried.
