Letter from Martha Windsor McNabb to Faye Ellis

Mentions the McNabb Oil Business where the family searched for oil in the San Lorenzo Valley based on reports of oil like substances seeping out of the ground. Also talks about the "oldest inhabitant" house is on Love Creek Rd. The was a measles outbreak and her family was all sick during the floods of 1907 and her brother went down to help her father move some of the merchants supplies to higher ground. That flood also killed three brothers who were canoeing in the river. The Kober family had a big vineyard and made wine and so did her father. Martha remembers the wine vats and that her father sold his wine to someone in San Jose. She talks of the location of their old ranch on Quail Hollow Rod. Also the Christmas party in the Ben Lomond Hall where "Santa Claus" caught on fire. She notes that there were many dances at the Ben Lomond Hall and that it was beautiful. Many friends and neighbors also mentioned in the letter inlcuding C.F. Lewis who was meticulous in wrapping your purchases from his store.
