Tom McHugh Interview March 1978

Interview with local historica Tom McHugh who covers topics such as the early settlers arriving via the headwaters of the San Lorenzo River along the old Saratoga trail and the Indigenous tribes that lived in the area. these include members of the Paiute and East Shoshone Indians who raided local settlers homes. Indians fro the local areas included villages in aptos and Davenport. Tom McHugh talks about the early settlers of the Graham family. Isaac Graham arrived in 1843 from Missouri. His other family in Santa Cruz included adopted son Henry Naile and other sons including James William who helped build a mill. Isaac encouraged the Bennett family to also build a mill which caused hard feelings and later death of Henry.
