Mary Bennett and her German handyman were in San Jose on business and Harry Love in a fit of rage lay in wait for them hiding behind his fence. May Bennet’s daughter from her first marriage warned her mother and the handyman that harry Love was waiting with a shotgun. Gunfire broke out between the two men and both were hit, Love more seriously. the handyman also beat Harry Love on the head several times causing bleeding. Doctors did immediate surgery ad removed Harry Love’s injured arm however due to several factors including the amount of chloroform required to get through the surgery, Love died shortly after.
