Harry Love owned the mill on the North side of Love Creek which he bought from money he received for tracking down Joaquin Murrieta. Pacific Mills was started in 1887 and was the original name of the area before it was changed to Ben Lomond after the nearby mountain. John Burns named the mountain Ben Lomond for a mountain in his homeland of Scotland. he also operated a winery in Ben Lomond
