Loch Lomond anglers escape city budget cuts

Over 41,000 fishermen visit Loc Lomond every year from within and outside of Santa Cruz County. A proposal was before the City Council to shorten the operating hours and fishing season to make up for a budget shortfall mostly due to road maintenance. it was agree to not do change the hours as the city has an obligation as part of the original deal with the state to take over Newell Reservoir and gain water rights to maintain recreational facilities there until 2013.
